"I Just Cannot Keep From Smiling"

I just cannot keep from smiling
When the sun's shining down on me,
And I feel its beams on my face, brightn'ing
It into a smile, and making the world all gleam--

Gleam with vivacity, with radiant joy,
Sparkle with beauty of life like a gem,
Yet milder and gentler, with a light somewhat coy,
All a smile beaming brightly... And then

The worries, they all give way to the wave
Of mild happiness flowing through me--
For living and breathing, for feeling safe,
For seeing and hearing, for wonders, for wandering free,

For all the joys and excitements of life...
Is it so very surprising
That, once I see that curl of beams in the sky,
I just cannot keep from smiling?!

Вчера я ходила в кино с отцом, на "Тигр и снег". Фильм просто замечательный: очень красивый, глубокий, при всей серьезности--с ярким, живым юмором... Приятная мелочь: показывался он на итальянском языке с русскими субтитрами, что дало возможность насладиться живой, бойкой и очень красивой итальянской речью:-) Также пение Тома Вэйтса было прекрасным дополнением к очарованию фильма: его голос--это просто фантастика! А после фильма мы очень славно посидели в "Якитории":-)


Yesterday I went to the cinema with Dad, we saw "La tigre e le neve"--"The Tiger and the Snow". The movie is just wonderful: very beautiful, profound, and with all its seriousness it's full of bright, lively humour... A pleasant detail: it was shown in Italian with Russian subtitles, which was a good opportunity to enjoy the vivid, quick and really fine Italian speech:-) Also, Tom Waits's singing was a wonderful addition to the charm of the film: his voice is just fantastic! And after the movie we dined very nicely at the "Yakitoria":-)
